you cool cats....those were the days, eh? I still look back on the Stowe
School days with very fond memories. I graduated in 1981 leaving the
school with a woman named Tana Acton who some of you may remember was a
junior dance/art teacher at SS. I know, I know, teacher/student
relationships are taboo, but, you know what? We stayed together for
almost 8 years after I graduated. I guess at the time we were meant to
be. Anyway, after many years of traveling and living all over the
country I've found myself living right back here in beautiful VT. I'm in
Warren about 30 miles south of Stowe. In fact I remember coming down
here to the Mad River Valley in the SS days to white water canoe. Loved
it then, love it even more now. I live here with my beautiful wife Nancy
and my two girls Cassidy (12) and Jessa (11). We've got 30 acres, a
beautiful house (which I built), and a very strong tie to our community.
We actually hosted a reunion in 2001, (kind of surprised nobody
mentioned it on the site so far) and were able to reacquaint ourselves
with some old school chums. It was a trip and it was definitely a good
time. I now own my own design/build company specializing in post and
beam construction. Most of the building I do is speculative. Build it
first sell it later is my new motto. I encourage any of you old timers
to give me a shout so we can reminisce about the old days. Maybe tip one
back and tell a few tall tales....after all we're full of those, aren't
we? |

school at the University of Chicago and served as a Pease Corps
Volunteer in Sao Tome e Principe. As a filmmaker I have made several
documentaries and have been producing ethnographic documentation of
Voodoo in Haiti since 1984. Professionally I have and continue to be a
consultant, P&L manager and sales manager for corporate knowledge and
change management and eLearning. I live with my 12 year old son and our
two cats in Chicago. |

attended Stowe School fall semester in 1981. I ended up going back home
as I missed all of my friends. I just happened to be up surfing the net,
and came across this website. I have often wondered about the school.
Although my time was short there, I have some very fond memories of
being there. I grew up a lot that 6 months I was there. I was saddened
to learn the school closed quite some time ago. I was a junior when I
was there. I am now 39 years old. I am divorced, I have two kids as
well. I have a daughter age 9, and a son age 7. I went to U of Illinois,
and graduated with a biology degree. I have been a Ultrasound tech for
the last 15 years. I have been trying to find out whatever happened to
my roommate, Paul Epstein. I haven't talked to him in 15 years. |

lived in Annapolis, MD for many years, got 2 masters degrees in psych,
worked with troubled teens for 14 years. I moved to Portland Maine in
1997, had a private practice and worked in a public high school where I
burned out! Currently re-evaluating the nature of earning a living. I
turned 40 in May, got married for the first time in June to a brilliant
man, with whom I am building a house. My husband was an Outward Bound
instructor among other things, and has reacquainted me with the
wilderness after I spent many years as a city girl. Thank heavens in the
20 years since I was at Stowe, they invented Capilene, fiber fill and
fleece! Best to all! - Carol UPDATE 6/02/08 : I'm
recovering from a surgery, and am surfing on my laptop here....realized
I've not updated in 5 years! Thanks so much for having this website! - I
just turned 45 last month, and last October I had my first baby! A boy,
named Chesley Laurence Will. He is the most beautiful little man in the
world, and I'm so happy! Also, I've had my own catering business for
quite a while too, so those are both new items since I last checked in
on the Stowe School website. There is a link below to my website, if any
one wants to see what I look like these days. I'm not looking for
business through the Stowe school, though.... Any way, hope you're well

Marriott's management training program. Worked in various hotels around
the country. Married in 1994. We moved to Seattle in 1997 - it is great

company which keeps us on the road often.

missing and thinking a lot about be the experiences I had with some of
the craziest people I’ve ever met. Currently I’m living in Tampa, FL.
Father of two amazing young ladies and husband to my bride, Beth, for
the last 18 years. Working as a manager of a small Kosher café and
catering on the side( we all must do what it takes to pay the man!)
Hoping for a 2010 get together with some of you knuckleheads I haven’t
seen in over 25 years! Don’t hesitate to contact me , as I’d love to

taught me more life experiences than any money could of purchased – Be

Hmm... Ran from the Dead for a while, ended up doing pushups in basic
while still coming down off tour, army for a while, kind of a mental
version of sauna then jump in the snow. Went to Sterling College for Env
Sci, went to Johnson State for Env Sci, locked myself in a small apt
with 10 computers for 3 years then ended up at IBM running the Sun & HP
servers for them. Went to NASA to run some HP-UX servers that controlled
a string of supercomputers, then off to Johns Hopkins University where I
designed and put together a supercomputing lab for a large group of
"geniuses". Then headed back up to VT and IBM when I could stand it no
longer, and had my job shipped off to India after 6 months. Currently
investigating a career as a sub aquatic engineer somewhere (dishwasher).
Keep it simple. ;-) |

granddaughter ( we adopted a 12 y/o who is now 22 w/ a 4 y/o dtr.) Spend
most of my time w/ grand daughter or touring the southwest on my

managing a corporate purchasing division in food and beverage for a huge

1985-1987, played in a blues band and taught for a while after that. I
started getting busy with multiple bands in the '90s. Depending on which
night of the week it was, I played rock, country, and blues. In '96, I
got married and begat my first child. I now have two boy who have autism
spectrum disorders. Since I needed health insurance, I found work in
manufacturing. I worked as a machinist for eleven years then moved up to
industrial sales and technical support. I've been going to Harvard
Extension School since the spring of '06 with a concentration on
Government. |

i looked like ted nuggent i am currently living in connecticut and i am
self employed in investments. i have 4 children 10 - 19yrs old old 2
boys 2 girls, just turned 42 a few days ago and would like to relive my
past i had a good time at stowe although i didn't really enjoy resource
and some of the other long hikes. it is too bad they closed the school
i have been by there a few times over the years.ity looks almost the
same except there is no one hanging outside. i guess we all wish we
could go back to our youth:) feel free to put my name and email up on
the site along with my stats. it was a small school but i hope some one
i know writes me. so far i have only talked to 1 person that was there
with me. thank you for keeping stowe alive after all these years |

names from the past up in here. I've been living off and on in Boulder,
CO for close to 20 years - although I've been lucky enough to live
abroad on a couple of occasions. "Dabbled" in college for a bit after
Stowe, then moved out here, played music "professionally" for about 5
years in a kind of "not quite ready for the Horde Tour" band called
Water. Ended up actually earning a college degree by age 31, then went
to grad school for French Literature but switched gears again about 4
years ago and now I'm working as a marketing consultant in the
Internets, which unfortunately I heard is just a fad. I've kept in touch
with Spencer Nicolary and Art Hawkins, and some new old faces are
starting to turn up on Facebook, which you should all get your butts
over to right away! So many fond memories of the Stowe School days...
it's hard to believe it was really that long ago. Anyway - FACEBOOK!
We'll be waiting for you...

Hi, Love the site. I am glad to see that others also miss
the place. I spent 4 years in the Army after Stowe. Rebelling against
freedom I guess. I got married in the Army. I went to college on the GI
Bill and got my degree in Electrical Engineering. Got a job at Texas
Instruments working on chips for cell phones. I live in Dallas, and
spent 13 years building an airplane in my garage. It is finally flying
and my wife and I starting to fly around the country. I flew over Stowe
last summer but didn’t have time to stop. If you see a small airplane
flying over low-and-slow… it ain’t us ‘cause my plane is quite fast (http://www.eaa1246.org/big_photo.asp?id=Wilsonx1%2Ejpg)
… I am seriously thinking about flying it around the earth. Enjoying
life but I do miss playing guitar in the Dome and going to keg parties

newspaper photographer. Armed with a suggestion from former Stowe School
student Kira Branson, I moved to Flagstaff, Arizona in 1994. Attended
college in Flagstaff and eventually graduated Magna Cum Laude from
Northeastern University in Boston, MA in June 2003 majoring in
international business and marketing. A couple of months after
graduating, I moved back to Arizona and now live in Tucson working in
book publishing. |

are also raising her two grandchildren (Shaine, 12 & Seanna, 11). I
worked for over 10 years as a pest control tech., then switched gears
and did a 3 year stint working at a drug rehab as a Family education
counselor, (yes, its true, believe it or not! My years at Stowe enhanced
my qualifications, I'm sure.) Currently I am working in the safety
equipment industry. (I sold out, the $ is better). |

All, Id like to clear something up first. Ever since leaving Stowe
School, I've been using the name I was given at birth. And since I've
been married I even have a different last name....sorry if anyone has
ever tried to contact me and could not find me. My name is GayLynn
Thornton. Anyway, since leaving Stowe I started pretty much right away
working in Human Services in Mass. I moved back up to Vt. in 93 to run a
residential treatment program for children which I did for about 8
years. During that time I had my own child, a beautiful boy named Ryder.
He is 6 years old now and I am expecting my second child any day now. In
Sept. I will be celebrating 16 years of marriage to a wonderful man who
also works with children and families. Currently I am teaching "CRASH".
( a driver safety program for those who have lost their license for
drunk driving. And I also offer parent education and monitoring for
court mandated supervised family visitation. But besides my kids... My
passion is touring Vermont on my motorcycle looking for all the best
rivers and swimming holes. While I ride I frequently offer thanks and
praises for the Stowe School giving me a deep appreciation for this
beautiful North Country! Update 9/07: I love to talk about my old
school days and hear about others...I had a little baby girl the weekend
of the reunion in Stowe in 2005... since then we have decided to move to
Essex Vt. The schools are a bit better here than in Burlington......I
don't think I will ever move from Vermont...I knew the first day I
visited Stowe school that my heart is here and that I would raise my
family here. Good for you for moving back...I hope you and you're wife
are loving it! Thanks again for all your work on the web site! Its just

settled in Telluride with Kasha for a few winters. Found my self in
Alaska as a bush pilot for a bit and went on to
spent the next 10 years as an airtanker pilot fighting wildfires. Ended
up flying for United Airlines based in DEN. I took an early out to raise
my two girls Piper 5 and Haley 2 mo. I now live with my wife Jill and
our girls in Stillwater MN. We own a small bistro in St.Paul

After Stowe School I attended the University of New York at Brockport,
graduating with a BS in Recreation and Leisure Studies. I currently live
on the far North Shore of Chicago, working as the Manager of Parks and
Maintenance Operations for the Waukegan Park District. I am married and
have two boys, one 14 (Codie), and the other 7 (Colin). We, Andrea and
I, live in Wadsworth, IL, a country setting on the IL. and WI. border. I
am an avid home brewer of what I believe to be the best beer to cross
human lips. I'm still an active skier and hiker, and spend at least two
weeks in the Adirondacks at my families summer home on Schroon Lake, NY
each year. It has been my goal to instill the values and wonders of the
outdoors to my boys; something I retained from the school . We have been
boaters on Lake Michigan, and skiers in Wisconsin; regardless you have
to spend time with your kids outside. I also collect British and German
sports cars. It's a sick habit, but more interactive than a video game.
Still listen to the Dead; saw Phil in Chicago this past fall.
(I have a 1977 year book from the school that I would mail if anyone is
interested. I'm not sure how or why I have it, but I do) |
